The site: 3 large warehouses with offices, including a large office extension with critical IT infrastructure that could never be powered down.
The challenge
13cabs, the site’s long-standing tenant, had originally leased the entire complex. As their space requirements changed, they began reviewing their property options. The site owner valued the relationship and didn’t want to lose them, so the two parties agreed on a solution: one warehouse would be released and 13cabs would continue to occupy the remaining two.
That created an electricity problem. The site had only ever been set up with a single meter for the whole property. Separating the supply would have meant rewiring the main cables to each warehouse through the network provider, and the cost was prohibitive.
Our solution
The NRG Company was engaged to assess the site and find a financially viable solution that met the needs of both the tenant and the owner.
After a thorough site audit and investigation, we developed a plan to convert the site into an embedded network. We installed private sub-meters throughout the site, which allowed electricity to be sold legally through an accurate, compliant NMI metering system, with full invoice generation and credit management.
The plan protected the site’s critical IT infrastructure, and it was delivered so that both parties could carry on business as usual through the design and metering works.
